Getting to photograph one of my oldest and best friends’ wedding in Italy still feels unreal. We weren’t just there to work, we were there together, vacationing with some of our favorite people, soaking up every second. And then in the middle of all of it, I got to capture their wedding day at Lago di Braies and in the Dolomites… truly a dream.
If you know me, you know how much I love to travel. Italy, especially the mountains, has always been one of those bucket-list places. So getting to stand there with my camera, surrounded by turquoise water and those unreal peaks, photographing someone I love marry the love of her life? It doesn’t get better than that.
They said their vows privately in little wooden row boats, just the two of them drifting across the lake. It was quiet and intimate and felt like the world had paused for a second. We had the whole place to ourselves, which made it even more surreal. And then, because she’s iconic, the bride hiked up the mountain in her wedding dress like it was no big deal. Watching her climb in that dress, wind catching the fabric, mountains behind her… it was one of the most incredible things I’ve ever witnessed.
It was adventurous and emotional and so full of joy. A once-in-a-lifetime experience in a once-in-a-lifetime place, with people I love. I’ll carry that one with me forever.
